The White House released a draft budget for the coming fiscal year, which includes an approximate 50% cut to WIOA funding. About 92% of the Workforce Council’s funds come from the federal government via the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA).  

We are working with our colleagues at regional and national organizations to advocate for preserving our funding. Executive Director Beth Yoke was in Washington, D.C. June 24 – 25 with a group organized by Midwest Urban Strategies to meet with Department of Labor staff, elected officials, and their staff members.  

We likely will have multiple calls to action in the coming months. Responding to these will be critically important, as Congress needs to hear from many constituents to be persuaded to preserve WIOA funding.
